U.S.-RFE Partnership Activity
Partnerships are a powerful tool through which people, organizations, and communities can bring about positive change. FRAEC’s U.S.-Russian Far East (RFE) Partnership Activity grants program supports U.S.-Russian and Russian-Russian non-commercial partnerships working in the RFE. The collaborative efforts supported under this program addressed a broad range of development needs in the region that strengthened democratic society, improved the social and economic environment, and further integrated the RFE into the Pacific Rim.

The U.S.-RFE Partnership Activity supported innovative, grassroots activities that enabled Russian partners to solidify long-term relationships with U.S. and Russian counterparts and promoted networking and sharing of lessons learned throughout the region.

Partnerships collaborated on innovative approaches to:

  • promote community involvement in environmental advocacy and sustainable management of natural resources;
  • implement strategies addressing healthy lifestyles, preventative healthcare and disease prevention;
  • adapt models providing RFE youth leadership and life skills that will help them become involved and productive members of society;
  • facilitate public-private cooperation aimed at improving government services and public access;
  • promote rule of law; and
  • improve the environment for development of Small and Medium Enterprises.
